Fascinated by the juxtaposition of rich and poor, modern and ancient all living and breathing side by side in a country developing at hyper rapid pace. Every day I found a handful of unique things about this place. The friends and the stories I'd heard and the experiences we had together... I felt a real urge to document my experience here for myself but as a momento of what this place meant to me before the country ultimately catches up to the western world. I was tired of the local English publications meant for expats in their late 30's and their families. I wanted to make a publication that was a monthly guide to the city for young adults in their 20's, who had no intention of ever climbing the Great Wall. In the first issue we've got departments featuring some of the brightest stars from the Chinese art scene, features on the history of punk in China from the 90's to now, interview with DMC champion:
